floodscape is the culmination of a summer-long exchange of audio material between artists—a portrait of two geographically opposed coastal communities lovingly made from samples of both their natural and constructed environments. Combining the practicalities of digital media with the values of ethical foraging and eco art, floodscape explores the impact of industry and through-traffic tourism on the acoustic environment non-intrusively and without physical residue. Drawing inspiration from the floodplains of the Bay of Fundy and the Georgian Straight and their parallels to our collective digital limits, periphery, in this work, is defined as a non-objective, cyclical edge—the shifting space between centered and other, and the opportunity to explore what lies in between.
